Holiday Pictures

We had a wonderful holiday season! On the night of Winter Solstice we lit lots of candles, opened a few presents each, and made holiday goodies. The big gift of the night was Daddy's new guitar. Making cookies was the big hit for the kids! The next day we had family over and opened more gifts. The big gift of the night was Mommy's new ring! We spent all of Christmas Eve in Va. with family.

Christmas Castle

We went to Castle Mcculloch which was all decked out with lights and entertainment! I think everyone had a good time, although it was a long walk around to all of the different displays. It was somewhat sentimental because my husband and I got married there.

Gingerbread House

One of the girls that works with Chayce after school brought a Gingerbread House for the kids to decorate. They all had a good time, even though it was hard convincing Chayce he couldn't eat the candy.

The Christmas Tree

We got our tree decorated, despite the fact that Zephyr thinks all the ornaments belong on the floor! Oh well, I tried to put the really breakable ones at the top, but I do expect to lose a few this year. I'm sure to a toddler all the lights have to be the neatest thing in the world! How can you NOT want to touch it!

This morning we went to the High Point Museum. The boys went with Grandma a few days ago and apparently Avery had alot of fun on the bus. So he requested to go back again.

Autumn

It took awhile, but I think Autumn is finally here! This tree is beautiful and bright yellow right now, and it makes me happy to look at.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We have had an adventurous week, and I neglected to take pictures of all of it! Monday was class at The Piedmont Environmental Center, where Avery spent some more time learning about rocks and minerals. One of his favorite subjects, I can tell you have so many we could open a rock shop! Tuesday two friends came over and the boys got to spend lots of time in the Tree House. Wednesday we didn't venture far, and managed to work on writing and reading. Thursday we went to Va. for Thanksgiving with Grandma's family and tomorrow Dad and the boys will go back to be with Grandpa's family. (Avery is looking forward to seeing George!)

Park Day

One of our local homeschool Mothers set up a Safety Day at the park today. We had alot of fun. There was a fire truck, an ambulance, the local sheriff, and police. There was also an officer who had his K9. He would take the kids into the field and have the dog search out hidden objects. Zephyr's favorite were the police car lights! After visiting with lots of community workers we got to go play with some friends.

Multiplication Clock

I have been looking forward to making this for over a week. I finally made the time! My picture doesn't show up very well, but it is really neat! I guess it's a version of the times table we were used to as kids. You can find the idea creators at Robinsunnes Multiplication Clock.
Hopefully it will give us another fun source to use in working with our math.

Our Busy Week

We have aleady had a busy week. We made caramel apples, which we all decided were way too sweet, but making them was fun! Yesterday we made Leaf Rubbing Cards. I liked doing that, even Chayce made one. Today we made Pine Cone People. Finding acorns was tricky. All we have are tiny ones in our yard, so we went to Grandma Janette's and snuck into the neighbors back yard! We got what we needed and put out little people on our Nature Table.

Korner's Folly

Today we went to a house in Kernersville named Korner's Folly. We had a good time and Avery actually liked the house alot. To read about the history of the house visit Korners Folly. Since Avery liked it so much I think I will start preparing him for a trip to the Biltmore House. (I don't need much excuse to take a trip to Asheville!)
Zephyr was forced to ride in the baby carrier so he wouldn't touch and grab things, but he didn't mind most of the time. Dad went with us and it was nice to spend the day together!

Happy Birthday Avery

Today was Avery's birthday, he turned a big 7! He was born on the day of Samhain, but he didn't understand when I told him the story! He had a Birthday Party with his brothers, Dad, and Grandma & Grandpa. (Mom had to work). We will have more cake on Saturday!

Last night the boys had fun dressing up. Chayce was a witch, at his request. Avery was a knight, and Zephyr was a duck. We lit our pumpkin and lantern on the porch, and got more candy than we needed! I wish I had know about The Sugar Fairy sooner. At this point I think the kids would wait up for her and fight her off! But next year, I am inviting her.

Our Nature Table

Happy Halloween

Today we carved our pumpkin! We also made a lantern out of a gourd much like the ones we learned about from long ago. The boys rolled down the hill in our yard and had a good time!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the Pumpkin Patch last weekend. The kids had fun and we even did gem mining, very much Avery's favorite. he is into rocks right now.
